Ever since my first plane ride, I have always been intrigued by all that the world has to offer.
There's something exhilarating about jumping on a plane to set out on your next big adventure.
Over the years, I have been blessed to visit many countries, and learn a little bit about myself throughout my travels. My study abroad experience in Australia, during my Junior year of college definitely helped fuel my passion for exploring. Spending 6 months in the "Land Down Under", I was able to experience so many new things and when I returned, I had a thirst to continue my adventures.
Upon graduating from Rowan, I decided to embark on my next adventure by moving to sunny San Diego. While in SD, I was able to explore all that the west coast had to offer. I taught 7th and 8th grade at Pershing Middle School, and I learned a lot about myself as an educator during the time I spent there. I am grateful for my coworkers, friends, and students that inspired me along the way.
After 2 years on the West coast, I decided to move back to NJ, and was blessed to get a teaching position at Samuel Mickle School, where I had done some of my practicum teaching through Rowan University. For the past 7 years, Mickle has been my home. It is a fabulous place to work, and I cherish the friends I have made, the students I have taught, and the opportunities I have created through community service.
Moving back to the East coast also introduced me to a fabulous jewelry company called Premier Designs. Premier has allowed me to serve others and enrich lives. I have been able to use my business as a tool to fundraise for others and also to support my volunteer adventure. My Premier family has always provided love and support, and I am grateful to be part of such an amazing family.
The inspiration for this trip came from my adventures in Europe and Africa. Throughout my journey overseas, I met so many wonderful people that were volunteering their time to help others. I wanted to be one of those people. I wanted to be able to give back while exploring the world. When I returned from my trip to South Africa, I started researching volunteer opportunities and came across Cross-Cultural Solutions, Projects Abroad, Global Volunteers, and Bali Volunteer House. I soon learned that my friend, Marissa, volunteered through CCS in Tanzania and absolutely loved it, and when she began to share her stories, I was even more determined to make my dream of volunteering overseas a reality.
This trip has been 3 years in the making, and in a few days it will become a reality. I am thankful for everyone who has inspired me and supported me along the way. I look forward to sharing my journey!
