Hi, my name is Stacy Kuhen, and I have always been passionate about traveling and helping others. This year, I decided to combine both passions by embarking on a 7-month volunteer
journey around the globe. I will be volunteering in 6 different countries through 4 different programs along the way. Each country and program offers me a unique opportunity to support local communities while immersing myself into the culture. My journey begins on January 26th in Cartago, Costa Rica, through Cross Cultural Solutions, where I will be volunteering at the San Rafael Day Center & Nursing Home. My volunteer placement is determined based on the need of the community during my stay. Following Costa Rica, I will be volunteering in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, through Projects Abroad. In Cambodia, I will be participating in the Khmer Cultural Village Project, which will allow me to get to know the Khmer people firsthand. I will be learning the history, language, customs, and assisting in a local farming community. After my time in Cambodia, I will be volunteering at the Jodie O'Shea Orphanage in Bali, Indonesia, through Bali Volunteer House. I will be living at the orphanage and assisting with the planning of extracurricular activities for the 68 children that reside there. Following Bali, I will be participating in a community village project in Nadi, Fiji, through Projects Abroad. I will be living in a village, teaching the children, and assisting with the day to day activities. Next up, I will be residing on the Island of Crete in Greece through Global Volunteers. I will working with children and adults who have special needs at the St. Spiros Center. My final project will be in Bangkok, Thailand, through Cross-Cultural Solutions, where I will be teaching English in a school or working at a childcare center. I am excited for the opportunity to make a difference and look forward to sharing my experience along the way!
